Both Pre-eclampsia and Eclampsia are pregnancy related disorders. They are included in the spectrum of Pregnancy Induced Hypertensive Disorders (PIH).

 

When a pregnant woman develops gestational hypertension followed by proteinuria, the condition is called Pre-eclampsia.

 

When a pregnant woman with pre-eclampsia also develops Grand-mal seizure and/or coma, the condition is called Eclampsia.
