Gravida and Parity

    Can someone explain to me what is the exact meaning and difference between gravida and parity?

    Gravida = total number of present and/or past pregnancy irrespective of the period of gestation.

    Parity = total number of past pregnancy crossing the period of viability

     

    In cases of twins the number is 1 for both the cases, because they signify number of pregnancy and not delivery.

    Just remember that gravida is the total number and parity is the number above viability period. (Viability period differs from country to country.
